After a very successful inaugural event in 2018, numerous guests from industry were once again welcomed to Aue on September 25, 2019, for the second Cooling Tower Day. The response to the invitations was once again overwhelming, with the conference room in the administrative building of Multi Kühlsysteme GmbH filled to capacity—prompting considerations of a larger venue for the next edition.
The participants represented an interesting cross-section of our customer base. We were pleased to welcome guests from the chemical, metal, automotive, and plastics industries, among others. A particular highlight of the day was the tour of our new MC 500 cooling tower in the production hall. Here, participants were able to see for themselves the advantages offered by our cooling tower. In addition to optimized design features and a suitable selection of materials to ensure hygienic operation, the installed fan also delivers 20% energy savings compared to “older” cooling towers while providing comparable cooling performance.
Detailed technical explanations were provided by the Fraunhofer Institute for Machine Tools and Forming Technology (IWU) in Chemnitz, which, as a partner of Multi Kühlsysteme GmbH, was significantly involved in the development of the cooling tower. The response from the specialist audience was extremely positive, reinforcing our confidence that the development of the new cooling tower series was the right step forward.
Once again, the presentations at the Cooling Tower Day were exceptionally engaging and informative, providing an excellent basis for discussion and professional exchange. Across five presentations, topics such as biocide-free water treatment using cooling water catalysts were introduced. Energy efficiency—an increasingly important aspect of cooling systems—was another key focus, with the corresponding presentation offering many attendees valuable input for further considerations within their own companies. Another presentation covered a range of different recooling systems, outlining their respective advantages and disadvantages.
Particularly noteworthy was the contribution by a TÜV expert, who addressed the mandatory inspection of systems every five years in accordance with Section 14 of the 42nd BImSchV, explaining key focal points and offering practical guidance that was undoubtedly helpful for several participants preparing for inspections of their own systems.
The Cooling Tower Day was rounded off by excellent catering for both participants and speakers, provided by the “Blauer Engel” in Aue, whose culinary offerings ensured satisfied guests right from the start of the event.
