Induced draft cooling towers

This is the MC series

When process heat needs to be reliably dissipated, an induced draft cooling tower is the most cost-effective solution for many businesses. With the MC series, you get an open stainless steel cooling tower that can be flexibly configured and impresses with its low energy consumption during continuous operation.

At MULTI Kühlsysteme, we manufacture and develop our products entirely in Germany and provide you with systems that are tailored to your operation and customized by us to meet your specific requirements. See for yourself the benefits of our MC induced draft cooling towers!

Our MC Induced Draft Cooling Tower Models

At MULTI Kühlsysteme, it is important to us that you receive a cooling tower that meets the requirements of your day-to-day operations, whether in metalworking or the chemical industry.

There are four different options available when selecting MC models.

A comparison of our models:

Model Rated Cooling Capacity Connected load per fan Dimensions Number of fans
MC 315 315 kW 3.25 - 3.5 kW 2,600 x 1,500 x 3,000 mm 1 or 2 units
MC 500 500 kW 3.25 - 6.5 kW 2,600 x 2,400 x 4,500 mm 1 unit
MC 900 900 kW 3.25 - 6.5 kW 4,000 x 2,400 x 4,500 mm 1 to 3 units
MC 1280 1,280 kW 3.25 - 6.5 kW 5,100 x 2,400 x 4,500 mm 3 or 4 units

We’d be happy to discuss which of these options best suits your operation during a personal consultation. You can describe your requirements to us here, and we’ll advise you on performance, the number of fans, and additional equipment such as silencers.

The MC-D Cooling Towers

In addition to the MC induced draft series, we also offer the MC-D cooling towers, a forced draft alternative. They were developed for locations where space constraints are more severe. Here, the fans are mounted on the sides of the housing instead of on top of the hood. This reduces the overall height to about three meters while also creating space for upstream and downstream silencers.

With the MC-D 750 and the MC-D 1500, two models are available that remain compact even when cooling demands are high. Both are suitable for new construction as well as retrofit projects, can be installed inside the building, and can be connected to existing air ducts.

In short: When space is limited, high performance is required, or strict noise limits apply, the MC-D is the right choice.

FAQ: Induced Draft Cooling Towers

How does an induced draft cooling tower work?

The efficiency and modernity of our cooling technology are most evident in the quality and design of the MC series. In these induced draft cooling towers, the fan is mounted on top of the housing and draws in ambient air from below through the tower. At the same time, the warm cooling water is distributed over the fill media via industrial nozzles and flows in countercurrent to the air. A small portion of the water evaporates, extracting heat from the remaining water, the warm, humid air then exits the tower upward.

It is precisely this airflow pattern that makes all the difference in your facility as well. Because the air is drawn in evenly across the entire cross-section, the fan operates with comparatively low resistance. Designing a cooling tower with induced draft therefore generally means: smaller fans, less drive power, and lower operating costs.

How an MC series induced draft cooling tower works

At MULTI Kühlsysteme, we are committed to the continuous development of modern cooling technology. For our MC induced draft cooling towers, innovation is particularly evident in details such as the following:

  • Water flow rate up to 250 m³/h
  • Cooling capacity starting at 100 kW
  • Open induced draft design with a top-mounted EC fan
  • Housing, basin, and hood made of corrosion-resistant stainless steel sheet in a bolted construction
  • Cold water basin sloped on all sides for residue-free drainage of residual water during shutdown
  • Drain strainer made of perforated stainless steel sheet at the water outlet to prevent coarse contaminants
  • Generously sized plastic nozzles that prevent clogging
  • Low required inlet pressure at the water inlet

No matter what industry your business operates in, a reliable cooling system is essential for ensuring smooth day-to-day operations and avoiding downtime due to overheating. Our MC cooling towers therefore offer you a variety of benefits that make exactly this possible.

Your induced draft cooling tower offers you:

  • Flexible, custom-designed construction: Cooling capacity, water flow rate, and dimensions are tailored to your actual load profile and installation site, not to a catalog specification.
  • High energy efficiency: Thanks to the optimized airflow, smaller fans are sufficient compared to forced draft designs. This significantly reduces auxiliary power consumption.
  • Lower investment and operating costs: Less drive power also means less equipment, making the MC series the more cost-effective option in our product line.
  • Proven all-purpose solution: Wherever there are no exceptional noise insulation or space requirements, an induced draft cooling tower is the obvious choice.
  • Controllable EC fans: The speed adjusts to actual demand. This has a direct impact on the electricity bill, especially during partial-load operation, that is, during most operating hours of the year.

An induced draft cooling tower is an open cooling tower in which the fan is located at the top of the tower and draws in ambient air from the bottom through the tower. At the same time, warm cooling water is distributed over the fill media via nozzles and flows in countercurrent to the air. A small portion of the water evaporates, removing heat from the remaining cooling water. The heated, moist air is then discharged upward.

An induced draft cooling tower combines high cooling capacity with comparatively low energy consumption. Due to the efficient airflow, smaller fans, and thus lower drive power requirements, may suffice compared to forced draft designs. This can reduce both capital and operating costs. The MC series can also be customized to meet specific requirements for cooling capacity, water flow rate, and installation location.

An induced draft cooling tower is particularly well-suited for facilities where process heat must be dissipated reliably and energy-efficiently. This design is a proven, all-purpose solution when there are no exceptional space or noise control requirements at the installation site. Thanks to its customizable design, the cooling tower can be adapted to different load profiles and operational requirements. This makes the technology suitable for a variety of industrial sectors.

An induced draft cooling tower operates with comparatively low resistance due to its airflow pattern. As a result, smaller fans, and thus lower drive power requirements, may suffice compared to forced draft designs. The MC series also utilizes controllable EC fans, whose speed can be adjusted to actual demand. This helps save electrical energy, particularly during frequent part-load operation.

The MC series of induced draft cooling towers is available to meet a variety of capacity requirements. The four models MC 315, MC 500, MC 900, and MC 1280 have rated cooling capacities ranging from 315 to 1,280 kW. In general, MC cooling towers are custom-designed for cooling capacities starting at 100 kW. The appropriate model depends, among other factors, on the cooling demand, water flow rate, and conditions at the installation site.
