Multi Kühlsysteme GmbH is pleased to introduce MOL Katalysatortechnik GmbH as an additional partner in the field of alternative, biocide-free cooling water treatment.
The company from Saxony-Anhalt has been equipping recooling plants, among other systems, with cooling water catalysts for more than 25 years—solutions that in many cases make the use of biocides unnecessary or enable a significant reduction in the addition of water treatment chemicals.
As Multi Kühlsysteme GmbH is committed to keeping the use of chemicals in cooling water to an absolute minimum, a collaboration with MOL Katalysatortechnik GmbH appeared to be beneficial for our customers, the environment, and occupational health and safety through the avoidance of hazardous substances.
Over the past year, we have verified through three joint projects that this technology represents a highly effective alternative to conventional cooling water treatment methods.
Based on interactions at the surface of the catalysts, natural water structures are supported. The catalysts are activated by light (daylight LED) and are thus able to exert their effect over many years.
In our first joint project last year, two cooling water catalysts were installed in a balancing tank of a recooling plant with a system volume of 120 m³ (MOL®LIK process) in the spring. Subsequently, the previously used amount of biocide was gradually reduced. In this way, an almost biocide-free operation could be ensured throughout the year. The amortization period in this case is only around two years.
The performance of the catalysts is particularly impressive. Even cooling systems with a system volume of 30,000 m³ pose no challenge. At the same time, the catalysts are approved for use in drinking water systems. Another advantage is the cleaning of surfaces: for example, plate heat exchangers are cleaned simultaneously, which is certainly a highly desirable additional benefit for many operators.
Especially in view of the 42nd BImSchV and the substitution principle in the field of hazardous substances, MOL technology represents far more than just an alternative.
With MOL Katalysatortechnik GmbH, Multi Kühlsysteme GmbH has found a partner in cooling water treatment for the future-oriented planning and construction of industrial recooling plants, as well as for the retrofitting of existing systems.
