Heat exchanger stations

Heat exchanger stations are used in the industrial sector to discharge process heat for a vast range of applications (chemical industry, glass industry, metal processing, etc.). The internal machine or system cooling circuits and the corresponding external cooling circuits are separated by the heat exchanger station. The “process heat” generated in the process is transferred to the cooling medium via a heat exchanger. This kind of system separation may be required for reasons of safety or be necessary due to the media used (ultrapure water, emulsions, oils, or acids).

MULTI Kühlsysteme GmbH manufactures heat exchanger stations to customer specifications in a number of performance classes and designs.

  • Mostly used in modular construction with heat exchanger to separate “dirty” from “clean” circuits with highest demands on cooling water quality
  • Industrial applications in all the usual industries (furnace cooling, electroplating, chemical industry, glass coating plants, connection to existing hall cooling networks, etc.)
  • Operation with water (for open systems) or water-glycol mixture (for closed systems)
  • Usually for indoor installation or optionally in container design (frost and weather protection)
  • Flexible implementation
  • Advantageous concept for export orders: Ready-to-connect heat exchanger stations are delivered to the construction site as factory-tested system components; only the connecting pipes and the electrical feed need to be added on site
  • The stations are dimensioned for container transport, large systems are delivered in split design

  • Base frame with corrosion-protection coating (powder-coated or wet-painted or according to customer requirements)
  • Heat exchanger designed as plate heat exchanger, tube bundle heat exchanger, or safety plate heat exchanger (double-walled), depending on application
  • Intermediate tank, buffer tank, expansion vessels based on system design
  • Feed pumps in various designs and materials (grey cast iron, stainless steel)
  • Cooling water filter designed as dirt trap, single filter or automatic filter depending on customer requirements
  • Water conditioning
  • necessary fittings (e.g., shut-off/check valves, expansion joints, instrumentation)
  • Internal piping material in plastic (PE100, PVC-U), carbon steel, or stainless steel
  • Control cabinet with complete control and regulation technology, PLC by Siemens, Allen Bradley
  • Internal wiring of all measuring points and consumers
  • Service-friendly design

The heat exchanger forms the heart of the plant for heat exchanger stations. This permits corresponding system separation between the internal cooling circuit of the industrial application or plant and the external cooling circuit. Heat between the internal and external cooling media is transferred across the heat exchanger. The heat exchangers are designed as coaxial exchangers, plate heat exchangers or tube bundle heat exchangers, depending on application.

The flawless, demand-oriented operation of the entire system and securing of user-friendly and effective handling of the cooling system require the permanent measurement of important operating data and the linking of all parameters in a computer-guided measuring, control, and regulation system.

MULTI Kühlsysteme uses programmable logic controllers with touch panels as the operator interface. The consumer, recooling unit and cooling water module are brought together with connecting pipes.
